Brief History

The Silago Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SMPC) formerly was organized by the Social Action Center at Hinundayan, Southern Leyte on October 5, 1974 under the leadership of Rev. Fr. John McEver, a cooperative expert of the Scarborough Foreign Mission. It was Rev. Fr. James McGuire who recommended the idea for that time Silago was the only town without a credit Union in the Pacific Area where the Scarborough Fathers were having their mission.
